Apple has accelerated its work on artificial intelligence-focused chat bots. It was claimed that the Ajax model, previously called Apple GPT, would come to iPhones. It was even stated that this model could be customized according to the user’s habits.
Native AI solution for iPhone
In a new study, scientists working under Apple tested whether systems such as ChatGPT can be run directly on the iPhone. A new technique in this context revealed that artificial intelligence can exist even in mobile devices with limited memory such as the iPhone.
For those who don’t know, artificial intelligence models require large amounts of memory that cannot be used on phones. But Apple’s method uses the iPhone to minimize data usage and maximize memory throughput.
According to the researchers’ report, iPhone utilizes storage space for these techniques. It was stated that artificial intelligence can be placed on the iPhone with new ways such as “windowing” and “row-column bundling”. In this way, models with twice the amount of RAM in the iPhone can be run.
In Apple’s tests, it was stated that up to 4-5 times faster performance was achieved in the processors and up to 20-25 times faster performance in the graphics unit.
This means that a comprehensive update for Siri could add artificial intelligence capability to the iPhone. It also allows Apple to integrate Ajax directly into the iPhone, which will rival ChatGPT.
